This thread just puts things in perspective. Getting a GC and beyond is a good thing, but in the larger scheme of things, enjoying the present moment and enjoying what you got is far more important. You never know when it can end !

Well, it goes beyond that. This is a "complicated story with no sub titles".
IV website is a board where people of all kinds visit and there is no control over stuff. Just go to any blog site - we see 100 rants and crazy comments as against a few wise talk.
I guess we have to live with it and keep pushing people. Sometimes loud and sometimes gently.
My friend, it is to "push the people" that I am saying all this. How best can we push? Through word of mouth, or thru full campaign?
Another idea: How about restructuring the forums?
In the home page, we promote only those discussions that are important to all, like advocacy.
In next tab, we take on the discussions that are based on individual problems
And all else, can go to the third tab
Also on home page, the following items (just some examples of general interest matter):
- Advocacy day. Donations received vs required.
- Big red button: Donate
- Some links to recent news items on immigration

It has been hinted that EB3 lobbying undermines recapture efforts . Could proponents of this theory explain how??
Why both cannot happen simultaneously??
I have only seen implications to this effect but nobody has come forward and said it plainly - You EB3 folks don't spoil the EB2 party because you had it good previous years and we are afraid if you make too loud a noise, our party might come crashing down.
Everybody seems to imply it but nobody wants to call it as plainly as I stated it above.
I might have exaggerated the fear factor but I am unable to find any other reason as to they would discourage EB3-I lobby under the pretext of recapture efforts.

I don't think the Canadian officers will ask you that question. But like someone else said on this thread that question may be raised by the US officers when you return. I am curious to know about this myself.
Aslo (I don't want to scare you but thought you ought to know) there's another discussion going on here http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17061 where the US officers at POE in SF airport raised an issue saying that AP can be only used for imergencies. This looks more like an isolated case but I want everyone to be aware of that case.
In my case, i do not have a valid H-1B visa stamp. I recently visited India and used Advance Parole. Questions related to this
1) do i need to surrender my PAROLE I-94 before departing USA?
2) does canada immigration officer ask me why i have applied for canada gc while my USA gc is in process?:confused:

Wait till next week-end. My 140 mailed to NSC on 11th April (why?? not sure) and received RN from texas. ND was dated 19th April. RD was 13th April.
Now # of applications are more so it can take more time but your RD will be maintained.

In countries like Europe people need not come USA just for survival as that is a developed country. Also if they have to wait 10 years to get GC then no Europeans will apply GC as GC is not that much importance. USA will lose them. But it is not the case for indians. If you go out of country then hundreds of people are waiting to take your position in next flight in India. May be in future if Indians also does not bother about GC USA will come and give GC fast.
Why they are not blaming pakistanis? They are small in numbers. In 1990s Indians also were given warm welcome as the number was small and abuses were less. Now over 40K h1bs plus 50K L1s were given in an year. Total number of H1b and L1 are more than 200k. Even most optimistic survey tells that 100k new high tech jobs are created per year that too in good times . Certainly we cannot deny displacement of US workers by immigrants. Now we started justifying this also by capitilism,globalization etc. But basically future of h1b and any other immigration program will depend on USA people support eventhough politics plays a siginificant role. Can we get support of USA citizens for expanding immigration when economy is severe recession?
Thats my point. Why are pakistanis getting green cards and nobody is saying they have taken jobs away from Americans? So many come to US on visa free travel, work 6 months undocumented from european countries, yet they are the first to get the GCs while Indians abuse B1, they abuse H1. How come only Indians abuse everything no one else abuses anything?

I think guys writing to individual congressmen will do nothing other than you getting a standard response that they empathize with your case. Here are some practical cases. Any eligible Eb3 person who can upconvert to eb2 should do it immediately. Second we need to educate USCIS about misuse of EB1 category where Project Managers are being included. Third is misuse of work experience in EB2 category where people have used fake experience letters to jack up their resume. USCIS should ask a sealed letter from some reputable background investigation company to validate the years and quality of experience that people claim they have same should be done to their degrees and certificates.
If we clean up the process the honest people will benefit from this. I am sure I will get lots of red for this but that will point to # of cheats on the forum who want to shut my voice

I am in the process of applying for EAD renewal. I have few questions:
On the I-765 form,
Q.11 if applied for EAD before , complete below.
But there is nothing below other than your signature and date. It does not ask you of previous EAD information. What does "complete below" means?
Q.16 The Eligibility here would (c) (9) for I-485 applications correct?
Where do I mail this application . My AOS is pending at TSC.

Our law firm (Fragomen) actually sent someone directly to Nebraska on Sunday evening to file the docs at the USCIS office there...They filed Monday early AM.

I got some good news. I called uscis just now and got two receipt numbers, one for 485 and one for EAD. Checks not cashed yet. I don't have the receipt number for AP yet. So it seems that our box is not lost and they're processing them, though so slowly. My application arrived on 7/3 at NSC, received by R. William at 9:03am.
Hope every one of us will receive our receipts, EAD and AP asap.
Going by the most recent receipting update, very likely, our cases (especially July 3/R.William) got transferred from NSC(well beyond 07/03) to TSC(beyond 08/05 - the LUD date) to CSC(still working on 07/30). If you have a counter example, please post.
