Nope, I haven't got the receipt nos for one set of checks yet, I guess people filing with TSC are getting receipt nos & also the notices.I know few friends of mine got thier notices too

I had a LUD on 7/28 and nothing after that... My I140 approved in Texas in April2006. I think we should get the receipt number here pretty soon...

For some postal destinations the USPS offers guaranteed 2 day service. I recently mailed a package where this service was offered. The postal worker explained that if the package was mailed on a Friday, it would be delivered on Sunday. San Francisco, CA is one of the destinations where this service is offered and the package in question was, indeed, delivered on a Sunday.
You should check whether the postal service offers the 2-day service to the USCIS office.

Sanju my friend, why sarcasm ? This is such wonderful information, why can't this be made more public, posted in a prominent position on IV ? Why should members do research to get this info when it can be relatively easily acquired by Quinn Gillespie & Assoc and given to core ? Come on man, a little bit of information like this goes a long way with members.
qasleuth, I don't believe that suri is for real. I think this guy is phony and will not spend a dime on anything other than his selfish self. I don't know why core or admins here do not give out this information, you could ask them, but I do know that folks here should grow up and be mature not scared to do their own research, because the best thing we can do for ourselves is, research and gain knowledge. I did a simple google search and within 5 minutes I found this information. So if someone wants to find information, there is no scarcity of relevant information online. The problem is, some folks don't want to move their fingers to do simple google search, but they have all the time in the world to find reasons to sit on their a$$ and not do anything. And that's just too much bull....

My PD is Sep 2002. There are different limits:
Break even limit
Fatigue limit
Endurance limit
I am on last one :)
Ditto here..My PD also sept2002 .
And my I-140 also pending for the past 19 months..
and I dont know what limit I should cross before I get GC ..
may be the country limits and go back to India.

This may be the *best advice*, imo.
Most "youngsters" (makes me feel really old now.. doesn't it.. ) visiting the U.S. for business/work/education seem to have no plans of residing in this country permanently. Most I've talked to in the past year or two are keen on returning home, or somewhere else.
Particularly true in case of India, imo.

Then I went to Mumbai last year and decided to go for a run, five minutes into the run and i was being chased by 2 dogs (and i don't mean the cops :p). The point i am trying to make here is. There are things in this country that we start taking for granted. lets appreciate it!
Another tip i would suggest to keep your mind occupied is to learn a foreign language. Invest in an Ipod if you do not have one already. Download free podcasts thet teach french,spanish, german etc. Listen to it while running. You are doing two things at the same time, staying fit and learning.
maybe we can have an IV 5K run sometime in the spring if things do not change. just a suggestion..

While speaking 100 languages, celebrating 100 festivals and learning same values that we, our parents and their parents believed in is really a culture......
Well, culture has tremendous impact on people. Looking at the state of our country, what have we become in last 63+ years? Major percentage of population still live under poor living conditions. Your points are correct. The real question is how many more can the country take without going unsympathetic to immigration. That's their country and their decision you know.
You guys migh want to read this, if you haven't done so that already. Great article that helps you understand the shift in posture. I am afraid that things will get rougher for us. Fortunately we are in the best position possible, if we learn how to take advantage of this situation (assuming that we ever get the GC!).

Immigration is a demographic imperative for America and the rest of the western world. Fact is the modern western cultures that empower women, encourage them to the workplace, make contraception/abortion freely available and make alternative lifestyles a choice, leads to a drop in fertility rates. Liberal leaning countries have amongst the lowest fertility rates, well below replacement levels.
The above makes it an imperative to import labour and yes sheer people to take care of the old and infirm, to keep the service sector rolling even if manufacturing etc is outsourced. The only question is what kind of immigration and how much of it. In short the answer is the USA is not a dumb country, it generally always acts in its self interest faced with these choices. I believe EB immigration will soon be liberalised. This would be a smart thing especially if coupled with a crackdown on illegal immigration.
US population is growing yes, but the elderly population is exploding. More are getting older (baby boomers) and once there there they are sticking aroung longer. I wish there was a measure of working age population only, the growth of that population is probably much less than that of the general population.

Does the original I 140 stays with the employer or employee? Any other document that I need to get from my employer before switching?

If you cant get a copy of everything (if you ask the attorney directly you should be able ot get a copy of the complete filing) try to get:
- copy of LC or atleast the section that describes the skills
- copy of employment verification letter which describes skills
original I-140 typically stays with employer. trhey might give youa copy of the approval notice...

My infopass appointment was pretty quick. I guess it lasted for only 5 to 7 mins. I opened an SR in the month of September however I never received SR response letter from USCIS which they said they have sent me in the last week of October so I didn't have any SR letter to show him. I carried only receipts for 485,765 and 131 for myself and my wife. I asked IO that it's been more than 90 days since I received receipts for employment based 485 and haven't received FP yet. He asked me for Photo Id and receipts for myself and my wife. Then he asked whether I received work authorization (765) and travel document (131) or not. Then he entered our information (receipt no and confirmed my address as well as my attorney's address) and was searching something in his machine and said I will get my FP soon. I asked him is there any time line? He said within 3 weeks. That's it. He said they have received many applications in the month of July and Aug and that's why they are lagging. I guess this is it. I was out of USCIS office within 10 mins.
